This program assures educational and clinical activities which hone and/or expand your Spanish knowledge in the medical context, promoting professional excellence and ever increasing success opportunities in your future endeavors. PACE MD’s MED-Spanish Continuing Medical Education (CME) program includes both theoretical and practical clinical Spanish training. Provide better care and gain a deeper understanding of your Mexican and Latino patients. Designed specifically with healthcare professionals in mind, the CME program offers quality learning opportunities with unrivaled flexible scheduling throughout the year.

  • Participant profile: Practicing Physicians, Advanced Practice Nurses, Physician Assistants

  • Dates: Until December 2020*

  • Arrival date: Preferible on Fridays or Saturdays

  • Program duration: 1 week (extra weeks available for an additional $500 USD cost)

  • Application deadline: One month prior to Arrival Date

  • Program costs: $1,400 USD (One-on-one additional instruction is $200 USD)

*Programs ARE NOT available between Dec. 20th and January 3rd

Spanish Instruction

  • Group size: individualized instruction with one to three students per instructor (depending upon number of visitors). Exclusive One-on-one instruction is available for an additional $200 USD fee.

  • Hours

    • 2 hours of Spanish a day minimum for participants enjoying additional clinical experiences.

    • Up to 4 hours a day for participants taking Spanish lessons only.

  • Levels: Beginner and Intermediate

Clinical Experience

Clinical experiences* are meant to provide participants with greater knowledge of the Mexican health care system and opportunities to practice Spanish in a clinical setting.

*IMPORTANT NOTICE: Placements are contingent upon Availability, the participant’s Spanish-speaking level, Academic degree, Professional experience and Program duration. All deployments are subject to the discretion of MED-Spanish and its medical director. Practitioners licensed in the US are reminded that they are not legally permitted to practice medicine in Mexico. 

  • Hours: 3 to 5 hours/day (optional)

  • Available placements: Ambulatory Care, Mobile Health Unit, Out-Patient Clinic. Our local hospital venue is reserved for MD’s only and always considering the IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOVE.

PACE MD’s MED-Spanish in collaboration with the University of New Mexico’s Office for Continuous Professional Learning provides this course to CME eligible physicians.

ACCREDITATION STATEMENT

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of University of New Mexico School of Medicine and PACE MD.  The University of New Mexico School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 The University of New Mexico School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 50.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

MED-Spanish DISCLOSURE STATEMENT

Per UNM’s CME policy: The MED-Spanish staff and faculty disclose that they have no relevant financial relationships with any commercial interest. Proper documentation on file.

Continuing Education Unit (CEU)-Until DECEMBER 2021.

CEUs are typically available, if requested in writing from your professional board (i.e. State Nursing or EMS Board), PRIOR TO participating in the program.
